Brian McCarthy
OWNER
Brian McCarthy purchased Tourterelle in 2020 after many years in various corporate capacities within the fashion industry. His enjoyment of flowers is matched by his excitement over spreadsheets, making him the perfect person to carry on the Tourterelle tradition. Originally from Boston, Brian has been enjoying the warmer climate that central Virginia offers. In his spare time, Brian enjoys his online book club, coaxing his Great Pyrenees-mix Hugo to go for a walk, and a budding interest in yoga. In addition to his sponsorship of the Paramount Theater and floral donations to a number of other Charlottesville cultural institutions, he is on the board of Charlottesville’s Tuesday Evening Concert Series and recently became an honorary member of The Albemarle Garden Club.

Lucia Evans-Morse & Pippa
CLIENT ENGAGEMENT
After eight years as the owner of Tourterelle, Lucia Evans-Morse has shifted into a part-time Client Engagement role where she helps coordinate proposals and facilitate event-related communications. With a background in art and high-end retail, Lucia’s eye is invaluable when composing an event or merchandising the shop. She often lends her expertise to on-site work as well. Lucia and her husband live on their family horse farm, where Lucia spends a good deal of her time riding, and even more time caring for her menagerie, which includes zebras Madison and Monroe. Lucia is often accompanied by her spunky Jack Russell terrier, Pippa, who has lots of thoughts to offer on floral design, meeting protocol, and what constitutes a good lunch.

Catherine Malone
DESIGN DIRECTOR
Catherine Malone is the Design Director, creating concepts for all of our events and day-to-day orders. With nearly a decade of flowering experience, she has designed and successfully executed hundreds of events across a spectrum of occasions and venues. With a Ph.D. in art education and as an adjunct instructor in Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts, Catherine combines her academic understanding of color and design with her innate love of art and flowers to create a unique experience for all of our clients. She is also a strong proponent of local flowers and spends a good deal of her time sourcing Central Virginia-grown flowers. Outside of Tourterelle and teaching, Catherine’s time is spent trying to get her three college-age daughters to hang out with her and tell her that she is still cool.

Hugo
SHOP DOG
Hugo McCarthy is the most recent addition to the Tourterelle team. Heading up customer relations and security, Hugo takes these tasks almost as seriously as he takes his napping schedule. Though his exact origin story remains shrouded in mystery, Hugo has made it clear that he is available for pets, smooches, “booping the snoop” and other forms of affection. Hugo is always happy to show you where the treats are kept.
